WELCOME TO THE 605 ALL-STAR BAND - ROSE PARADE EXPERIENCE!

On January 1, 2025, history marched down Colorado Boulevard—and Norwalk High School was part of it.

Our very own Lancer Regiment joined forces with students from eight high schools, three school districts, and seven cities to form the 605 All-Star Band, performing in the iconic Tournament of Roses Parade. This unforgettable collaboration brought together over 500 student musicians, led by a team of passionate educators with one shared mission: to represent our communities with pride, precision, and power.

This once-in-a-lifetime journey was more than a parade—it was a yearlong movement of planning, preparation, and unity. From the first concept meeting in May 2022 to the final step across the Pasadena finish line, our students rehearsed, refined, and rallied with purpose.

Highlights from Our Journey:
  • Official invitation from Rose Parade President Ed Morales
  • Performances at Bandfest and Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Recognition by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors
  • Coverage by CBS LA, KCAL9, and The Press-Telegram
  • Guest visits and support from Supervisor Janice Hahn, Rose Parade President Ed Morales, and community leaders
  • Field support from over 15 buses, 3 trailers, and 550+ performers and volunteers
  • Practice parades in Bellflower and Lakewood with food trucks, music, and community cheering us on
  • A surprise guest appearance and musical guidance from Peter Connell, director of the world-famous Disneyland Band
  • Full drumline outfitted with custom Remo drumheads and Peacock Classic batons for our 8 drum majors

More Than a Performance
The 605 All-Star Band was built on passion, purpose, and people. Students practiced across districts, shared meals, and created lifelong bonds with peers they'd never met before. From first rehearsals to final uniform fittings, this was a program that celebrated collaboration over competition and excellence through effort.
None of this would have been possible without the vision of Mr. Tom Philips, whose dream and leadership ignited the spark that became the 605 All-Star Band. His legacy lives on through every student who took that historic march on January 1st.
