WELCOME TO THE NORWALK HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC DEPARTMENT!
The Norwalk High School Instrumental Music Program is one of the most active and dynamic student communities on campus, serving over 100 student musicians across multiple performing ensembles.
Through music, performance, leadership, and collaboration, students build skills that extend far beyond the classroom while proudly representing Norwalk High School.
From football games and parades to concerts, festivals, immersive productions, and travel performances, Norwalk Music gives students opportunities to perform, grow, lead, and belong.
Our program includes the Lancer Regiment, Concert Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, Drumline, and The Lancer Bunch, creating meaningful experiences for students at every level of musicianship.
Whether you're a future Lancer, current student, parent, alumni, or community supporter—we’re glad you’re here.

Our Standard. Our Sound. Our Strength.
The Norwalk High School Instrumental Music Department is guided by the L.A.N.C.E.R. values, which shape how we rehearse, perform, lead, and support one another as members of Norwalk Music.
Leadership — We lead by example.
Artistry — We perform with purpose and expression.
Nobility — We represent Norwalk with integrity and respect.
Commitment — We show up prepared and follow through.
Excellence — We strive to improve every day.
Resilience — We grow through challenges.
Together, these values define our culture and guide the standard we set for ourselves both on and off the stage.
Beyond the Classroom
Students in our program gain access to experiences that go far beyond traditional classroom music.
Each year, our musicians perform at school events, community parades, SCSBOA festivals, seasonal concerts, football games, pep rallies, and travel performances throughout Southern California.
Students also participate in unique educational opportunities through special invitations, workshops, field trips, and performances connected to the professional music and entertainment industries.
These experiences have included visits and performances with:
We also regularly host guest clinicians, conductors, and music professionals, giving students firsthand exposure to college-level and professional musical direction while helping them explore what life in the arts can look like beyond high school.
Immersive Concert Productions

These productions combine live music, storytelling, visuals, lighting, and technical production to create one-of-a-kind performance experiences for our school and community.
Featured productions include:

These concerts are more than performances—they are opportunities for students to tell stories, run production, create experiences, and lead behind the scenes while gaining real-world experience in music, media, leadership, and live event production.
