The Norwalk High School Instrumental Music Program is one of the most active and dynamic student communities on campus, serving over 100 student musicians across six performing ensembles.
Through music, performance, leadership, and collaboration, students build skills that extend far beyond the classroom while proudly representing Norwalk High School. From football games and parades to concerts, festivals, immersive productions, and travel performances, Norwalk Music gives students opportunities to perform, grow, lead, and belong.
Our program includes the Lancer Regiment, Concert Band, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, Drumline, and The Lancer Bunch—creating meaningful experiences for students at every level of musicianship.
Whether you’re a future Lancer, current student, parent, alumnus, or community supporter, we’re glad you’re here. Welcome to Norwalk Music.
The Norwalk High School Instrumental Music Department is guided by the L.A.N.C.E.R. values, which shape how we rehearse, perform, lead, and support one another.
Our musicians perform at school events, community parades, SCSBOA festivals, seasonal concerts, football games, pep rallies, and travel performances throughout Southern California.
Students receive educational opportunities through special invitations, workshops, field trips, and performances connected to professional music and entertainment—including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the GRAMMY Museum, Drum Corps at the Rose Bowl, the United States Army Band, and the United States Marine Band.
We also host guest clinicians, conductors, and music professionals, giving students firsthand exposure to college-level and professional musical direction.
A cornerstone of Norwalk Music is our multimedia concert production series: full-scale performances combining live music, storytelling, visuals, lighting, and technical production.
Featured productions have included Halloween Spooktacular, Holiday Extravaganza, Disney in Concert, Bruno Beats: A Night of Funk & Rhythm, and Revue Rhythms.
Students help create arrangements, synchronized projections, narration, theatrical effects, media, and cohesive visual branding—gaining real-world experience in music, leadership, storytelling, technology, and live-event production.
We believe music education should be transformative. We develop leadership, creativity, and resilience; produce high-quality performances rooted in purpose and pride; create opportunities for growth; and foster connection, belonging, and lasting impact.
Our goal is a program where students feel challenged, supported, inspired, and proud to represent Norwalk High School—on stage, on campus, and in the community.
