Norwalk High School Choir Director
Desiree Flores has been teaching in the Norwalk-La Mirada school district since 2013. Mrs. Flores started as an itinerant music teacher teaching at various elementary schools around the district. After teaching elementary music for 5 years, an opportunity presented itself for Mrs. Flores to teach at Norwalk High School. Mrs. Flores is currently in her 3rd and a half year as Director of the Choral Music program at Norwalk High School. On top of being in charge of the choral program, Flores is also the Link Crew advisor at Norwalk High.
Desiree attended California State University, Long Beach where she received her BM in music education as well as her teaching credential from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. While attending BCCM, Flores sang in one of the university's top choirs. She has performed at festivals and venues all over Southern California as well as touring various countries around Europe that included Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria. Flores served as secretary for the international fraternity Sigma Alpla Iota. Flores is also a member of the American Choral Director's Association and National Education Association.

Norwalk High School's Director of Instrumental Music
Over the course of the last 10 years Ramiro Castañeda has taught at some of the top musical ensembles in Southern California. His teaching experience includes serving as an Assistant High School Band Director, University Athletic Music Director, Brass Caption Head, Brass and Visual Instructor and Drum Major Technician.
Ramiro is a native of Los Angeles, California. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he was a member of the concert band, wind ensemble, and orchestra. He also studied trumpet privately with David Grasmick, French Horn privately with Danielle Ondarza, and music composition and arrangement privately with Jennifer Amaya. Ramiro has studied and collaborated with some of Southern California's finest artists and music educators throughout the years.
Mr. Castañeda is currently the Norwalk High School’s Director of Instrumental Music. Ramiro is tremendously excited by and grateful for the opportunity to join the Norwalk High School family, and he looks forward to continuing and elevating the tradition of excellence as Director of Instrumental Music. He is a current member of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, National Association for Music Education, California Band Director Association, California Teacher Association and National Education Association.
